Good afternoon Dragon Families!
The return to Learning Plan has recently been updated. The plan presented and approved at the January Board of Education meeting included the Test-to-Stay option. Unfortunately, Missouri School Districts are no longer able to order the only approved Test-to-Stay BinaxNOW Antigen Rapid Tests. Therefore, without having access to the tests, the Test-to-Stay option was removed.
Changes were also made to the close contact quarantine guidance. We will continue to define close contacts using CDC guidelines, but effective today, students considered close contacts will not need to be excluded from in-person school. If it is determined that a student or staff member is a close contact, he or she will have the options to quarantine for five days or remain at school and monitor themselves for symptoms. The parents of close contacts will receive an email from Maegan Hale, school nurse, of the quarantine options. Parents electing the quarantine option will be asked to pick their child up. With both choices, the district highly recommends CDC masking guidelines, which encourages close contacts to wear a mask for ten days past the last day of contact with a positive person. If you’d like to review the entire plan, it is available on the school website.
These changes were made following careful consideration and based on the data collected daily from the state, county and school COVID data. This process will continue to be used to determine the need for future changes in the Return to Learning Plan.
We have much gratitude for students, staff, and families who have continued to show support despite the constant changes and controversy associated with the pandemic. The pandemic has undoubtedly been trying and exhausting for everyone, but we are determined to finish the year strong, and definitely look forward to warmer days ahead!
Due to inclement weather, Cameron Schools will be closed today, February 2. This day is designated a Snow Day. No virtual instruction. Enjoy the day by sledding, reading a good book, or napping! Stay safe and warm!
