Hello, Dragon Nation!  I am reaching out to request your assistance with completing a task that reaps huge rewards for our district and community - filling out a Free-Reduced Meal Application.

 We are strongly encouraging all families to complete a Free-Reduced Meal Application for the 2026-2027 school year.  We have many families who qualify for free or reduced meals who do not take advantage of this program and continue to incur a negative balance on their children's food service accounts.  Please be reassured that the days of identifying students who receive free or reduced meals are gone.  There are no colored lunch tickets or bells that ding when a student goes through the line.  Only the food service director who processes the applications is knowledgeable of your application information.  We also have our social worker available to assist families in completing the application, if a family would like assistance.  
Why are we actively pursuing applications to be submitted?  Because it strongly benefits our school district and our community!  When we accurately identify and provide services to our families in need of support, it provides us with increased educational funding, increases funding to programs in our community that serve our families, and helps local groups - in addition to the school - qualify for grant opportunities to further the opportunities we are able to offer such as free meals during Summer School, free meals at the YMCA in the summer, etc.  For example, did you know that 172 students ate at the YMCA during July and August?  Google HERE to learn more about how this application is tied to funding for Cameron residents.  

Remember that the free and reduced meal form must be completed every single year.  Just because you qualified last year, does not mean you qualify again or that you don't have to fill the form out again.  Last year's free and reduced benefits run out in October, so all free-reduced meal applications for this year should be filled out prior to September 30th.  If you already completed the Free-Reduced Application for your family during registration OR you complete one prior to September 30th, you will receive a Cameron YMCA movie pass as well as be entered into a drawing for KC Zoo tickets, Cameron Activities Family passes, and a VISA gift card.  Winners will be contacted by October 7th.  

Even if you think/know you won't qualify, you are eligible to win just for completing the form.  To fill out a free-reduced meal form, you must log into your TeacherEase parent account on an Internet browser (not the app), click on "Miscellaneous", and then click on "Free-Reduced Lunch Application, " complete and submit.
