Good morning, PV Parents! We are excited to get library books back in our students' hands! It's crucial for students to practice their reading at home; reading your child's library book with them or having them read it to you multiple times is a great way to build fluent readers! If your child is in first and second grade, we require them to read their library book at least 3 times before taking an AR quiz over it on the computer. To our first and second grade parents (First graders will not begin testing until October), we are excited to announce that once again this year, students will be able to take AR quizzes at home! Each student will have a new goal for the year and that will be determined by their STAR test score. Throughout the year, students will be rewarded for their progress toward their goal and when they meet their goal! Your child will be bringing home the following letter with information to help you with the at home testing process! Please also review the AR Code of Conduct you'll see coming home in your child's backpack and return it signed as soon as possible. We also have a school-wide book goal to meet! Our goal is to read 44,000 books! We know we can do this, but we need your help! We get our book totals using the reading logs that will be sent home and AR quizzes taken and passed. Let the fun continue with building great readers! Thank you, Parkview friends and family! Upcoming Title Meeting
Thank you, Parkview parents and staff, for a great first week of school! We enjoyed seeing you in the halls each morning this past week and appreciate all of your support in getting your child to class and establishing a comfortable routine. Tomorrow, we will implement the changes below to allow breakfast and instruction to begin and end on schedule. Arrival: **All parents will begin dropping off their children at the entrances tomorrow, 8/30/21. Staff members will be stationed throughout the halls to guide 1st graders and 2nd graders to class. Additional staff will escort Preschoolers and Kindergartners to their classrooms. **Breakfast - The building opens at 7:15 am and breakfast is served at this time. Please make every effort to get your child to school between 7:15-7:30 am if your child is eating breakfast to allow them adequate time to eat as classroom instruction is scheduled to begin at 7:45 am. **Please remember that parents have two options for drop off: the playground doors from 7:15-7:30 am and the circle drive from 7:30-7:45 am. Staff will be available in these locations during these time frames. If you arrive after 7:45 am, your child will be marked tardy and you will need to come into the building to sign them in. Please understand the importance of arriving on time as it allows your child to have plenty of time to eat and get situated in class, reduces anxiety, and avoids the learning loss that occurs from missing the same subject area repeatedly. Dismissal: **Dismissal times will revert to normal times now that we have established a routine. As you've likely noticed, we have very large numbers of car riders this year. To make the process move as swiftly and safely as possible, we ask that you please watch for your child to get to the front of the line and then walk forward with your car rider number visible and take your child by the hand to ensure their safety. We recommend that you are parked in the softball field parking lot by 2:30 pm to avoid getting stuck behind bus dismissal. New dismissal times are as follows: Early Buses - West Lot at 2:30 pm Car Riders - Playground at 2:35 pm Bus Riders - Harris/Circle Drive at 2:40 pm Immunizations: **Parkview Nurse, Stacey Robinson, will be contacting parents of students with deficient immunization records. If your child is behind on their immunizations, please contact your physician or county health department so your child is caught up and able to attend school. Missouri Schools Immunization Requirements Again, thank you for a great start to the new year! If you ever have any questions, please give me a call at your earliest convenience. Sincerely, Angie Ormsby Principal

Tomorrow, Cameron High School is hosting a softball tournament that begins at 12 noon. Softball game attendees will be parking in other locations to allow our PV parents to access the parking lot to pick up their children. Please be patient as someone may stop and ask you to verify why you are entering the parking lot. We also ask that you leave the playground as soon as you pick up your child to allow game visitors to park in the parking lot after dismissal. Thank you for your support! Good luck, Lady Dragons!

Car Rider Dismissal 8/27/21
Attention Parkview Parents: If you are a parent that picks up a car rider student at the end of the day, we are needing your coopoation with parking. There are a line of busses that park on Harris st, and we need to ensure that they have enough room to pull forward to park along the curb on the West side of the street. A RED CONE has been placed out on the sidewalk to show how space the busses will require in order to accomplish this task. Mr. Lannigan will also be out there to help guide parents on where to park. Areas that are available for parking are: The East side of Harris St, the West side of Harris St beyond the red cone, and the entire south parking lot. If you do end up parking on the west side of Harris St, your vehicle must be moved immediately after picking up your kiddo so the busses are able to leave once all students are loaded. Thank you all for your help with this matter, Mr. Lannigan

PV Families: Tomorrow is our first day of school! Please note the following information to ensure a great start to the year: *Parents may walk their children to class door the first week of school. One parent per child. Doors open at 7:15 am. *If your child is a bus rider or if you are not able to walk them to class, please write their name and teacher's name on a piece of masking tape and place it on the front of your child's shirt. Also please write their full name on the inside of their backpack. These actions ensure we are quickly able to identify your child and get them promptly to class. *All buses require masks. Masks at school are recommended, but not required at this time. Please make the decision that is appropriate for your family. *We will dismiss ten minutes early the first week of school to allow us extra time to get everyone dismissed accurately and safely. Early buses for students with special needs will dismiss at 2:20 in the West Lot; car riders at 2:30 on the playground; bus riders at 2:35. If you are picking your child up, please plan to be parked in the softball field parking lot by 2:25 and don't forget your car rider tag or driver's license. Please be patient and park respectfully as we anticipate large numbers of car riders this year. Thank you in advance for your support! We look forward to a great year with our Lil' Dragons!

Parkview Summer School: Just a reminder, today is the last day of summer school. We will be releasing at the regular time. Parkview Summer School: Movie Day We will be staying at Parkview to watch our movie tomorrow. We will be popping popcorn and watching the movie in the cafeteria. Also, Tuesday, June 29th is the final day of summer school. Mr Lannigan will be at Cameron Intermediate School (915 S. Park St.) from 3:00 to 5:00pm to hand out checks for Summer School attendance. Attendance awards are as follows: 100% = $100 less than 1 day absent = $75 less than 2 days absent = $50 Again, attendance is counted by the minute, so tardies and having to leave school early will affect incentive amounts. Thank you for sending your child to Summer School! In spite of a lot of rain, we had a good time. Enjoy the rest of your summer, and we'll see you in August.

Parkview Summer School: Due to the amount of rain we have received the last few days, and the rain that is coming tonight and tomorrow morning, the water slide day will not take place tomorrow, Monday, June 28th. We will have some fun activities planned inside for the students in place of the water slide. Prize drawings will be held in the morning starting at 8am. Students must be in attendance in order to receive a prize if their name is drawn. If your student wins a prize, you will be contacted in order to arrange a time for someone to come and pick up the prize on Tuesday during the day. If for some reason we have transportation issues due to weather, the prize drawing may be moved to a later time, but prizes will be drawn by the end of the day on Monday.
