District APR

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) released school district’s APR on 12/18 and can be found on the DESE website linked here.  You will need to choose Cameron R-I School District from the drop-down menu. State Commissioner of Education, Vandeven, made the following points regarding the state level trends in the initial presentation of the results to administrators on 12/12/23:

  • Academic recovery is still an issue educators in MO face post-pandemic.

  • Statewide attendance rates are still not back to pre-pandemic levels.

  • 1 in 4 students are missing more than 10% of their scheduled calendar attendance hours.

  • The factor that has the highest impact on student learning is highly qualified teachers.

    • Statewide, there is a shortage of teacher candidates entering (and staying) in the workforce.

    • DESE is certifying more than 16,000 teachers with a sub certification which is well above average prior

      to 2021.

    • Approximately ¼ of all student teachers were the teacher of record last school year.
