Parkview Family Support Tips

Jan./Feb. 2021

Hello, Parkview families.  Hope this finds you all well as we enter the coldest months of the year.  Below are some updates and resources we hope you find useful.  If I can ever be of assistance, please give me a call or email me at your convenience:  Angie Ormsby, PV Principal, 816-882-1051, .aormsby@cameronschools.org.

UPCOMING EVENTS & RELATED SERVICES:

Early Childhood Screening - Our next early childhood screening is scheduled for March 5th.  All children in the Cameron School District, ages 3 months through 5 years of age, will benefit from the screening process.  Children are evaluated for developmental milestones, and if delays are detected, we are able to help parents obtain early intervention services for their child.  All families interested in their child attending preschool classes at Parkview must go through the early childhood screening process; however those children already enrolled do not have to go through the screening again to keep their spot.  Please call 816-882-1035 to schedule an appointment.  If you are unable to make the March 5th date for your baby (age 3-36  months), please contact our Parents as Teachers Director, Mary Bradford, at 816-882-1062.

KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP:

Kindergarten Roundup is quickly approaching in March.  This year’s Roundup will look a little different due to COVID.  While we have not set the exact date yet, we do know that the event will be held at Parkview in the evening for parent convenience.  One parent will be able to accompany each child on an appointment basis.  Families will be asked to come ten minutes prior to their appointment and remain in their vehicle until called.  All children currently attending Parkview Preschool will be screened during the school day and therefore will not need to attend the Roundup.  Flyers will be sent out soon, but if you, or someone you know, has a child who will be 5 years of age prior to August 1st, please start locating your child’s birth certificate and immunization record!  Stay tuned for more information.

FOOD RESOURCES:

The Cameron R-1 District is committed to helping ensure our children’s nutritional needs are met.  If your family is struggling to provide food for your family, please consult the following resources.  Please contact our guidance counselor, Heatherlee Ryals, if you are already receiving these services and are still in need.
