District Statement of Safety

Emergency management guide

The Cameron R-I School District is continually faced with the challenge to provide a safe environment for all students and staff.   The district works in conjunction with the Cameron Police Department, Cameron Fire Department, and first responders to update and maintain the District’s Emergency Management Guides.  Plans for evacuation, relocation, lockdown, and other safety measures are in place and posted throughout each of our school buildings.

Students and school district personnel practice drills for different emergencies. Each school year, all certified staff members are trained online and experience in-person training for unfortunate and/or emergency situations, including active shooters.

The secure front entrances of the four school buildings allow school office staff to monitor visitors to the buildings throughout the school day.   All exterior doors continue to remain locked throughout the school day to help maintain a more secure environment.

Although there is no guarantee that something bad will never happen, it is important that we are prepared and have procedures and plans in place for that possibility.
