On January 7, students and staff completed a lock-and-teach emergency drill.

Monthly Music Day will be this Friday, January 10. As a fundraiser for the Lead program, students who pay $1 can listen to music on their personal device. Music should be previously downloaded and teacher discretion applies.

The Winter Flinter is January 17th from 5 to 7 PM. Cost is $5 per student. At the Winter Flinter, students can play games, hang out with friends, play video games, and dance! This night is one for the memory book!!! This event is reserved for currently enrolled CVMS students only. Drop off and pick up will be at the front of CVMS. Concessions will be sold separately. No outside food or drinks are permitted. CVMS doors open at 5 pm. Rides are requested to be here no later than 7 pm.

In January, students will focus on “Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood”. This means to listen to people sincerely.

  • How do you know you’re listening to understand? You say things like, “What I hear you saying is…” or “Wow. That sounds incredible.  Can you tell me more about…”

  • How do you know you are seeking to be understood? Your tone is calm. Your body language is attentive. Your words are not sarcastic or demeaning.

Habit 5 is a hard one to master.  I’d encourage you to lead your kiddo by example. Open the door of communication with your student about how you can show them you are listening and how they can show you they are listening.

There is no school on:

  • January 20

  • January 27

On February 18, from 5-7 pm, Empty Bowls will be taking place at CHS.  Please click here for additional information. Questions? Contact Mrs. Leeper at kleeper@cameronschools.org.
