The 8th grade students recently went on their career field trip. They visited 3 locations to learn about options for their future as they get ready to start high school. They visited the Missouri National Guard Armory, Missouri Western State University, and Buchanan County EMS. Pictures of all of the excitement can be found at cvmsupdate.weebly.com.

We are excited to share our new student created mural in the commons. The Student-Leadership Environment Team and Advanced Art students painted the mural along with teachers. The design was created by Advanced Art students. The students and staff put in time on the weekend and during art class to complete this amazing piece of art!! Pictures of the process and final product can be found at cvmsupdate.weebly.com.

Friday, May 10, is when Terry DaVolt will be talking to CVMS students.  He has an exciting and entertaining presentation planned as he presents on bullying. We are so thankful to the Aces for Aiden Foundation for sponsoring this guest!!! Please click here for information. Because this is a sensitive topic, if you choose for your student to not attend the assembly, please contact the front office at 816.882.1041.

CVMS kiddos have worked diligently throughout the entire year. Partner with us as we remind CVMS students they are valued as individuals. We have loved watching them grow and mature into the wonderful youth we have today!!! Give your student a high five and an extra hug! The are so very special and unique!!

MAP testing in 8th grade started on Wednesday. 6th and 7th graders will begin next Wednesday. Students can bring a clear water bottle filled with water to their testing rooms. They should leave their phones either at home or in their locker, as they are not permitted in the classroom. Your help at home is appreciated. Before testing, we suggest for students to:

  • Get a good night’s sleep
  • Eat a healthy breakfast
  • Get physical exercise
  • Think positive
  • Give positive reinforcement

Once again, here is our testing schedule. If your child has a planned absence during this time, please contact Counselor McDaniel to make arrangements for testing at amcdaniel@cameronschools.org.

We will have activities outside including kickball, football, volleyball, and hanging out with friends. Each grade level will spend part of their day outside!

In the Fall, when we return to school, we will have a celebration for students who have worked hard in the classroom all year on their academics and are able to score Proficient or Advanced in each subject area.  Once scores are received, students and parents will be notified of student performance and the celebration.
